About Drew

Drew Owen has had a life long love of magic. He performs for birthday parties and special events as the wizard, Professor Fizzwiffle. Most recently, he has performed magic at Ring 50 Holiday Magic Show, Lake Anne in Reston, Arlington Libraries, the Levine School of Music, Glen Echo park’s Family Day, the Barracks Row Festival,  St. Peters School, Watkins Elementary School, Chapala  Restaurant for the Friends of the Magi, and for private parties all over Washington D.C., Northern Virginia, and Maryland.

Drew is also a professional cellist who has played with the National  Symphony, the Baltimore Symphony, and the Washington National Opera. He teaches cello at the Washington  Conservatory of Music and Howard University.  Drew successfully combines his talents in unique shows that blend magic and music.

He created the character Musico the Magnificent, a musical wizard, for the Washington Conservatory’s Magic of Music series. These are fun and educational family shows presented at Glen Echo Park.

Drew also performs magic for children throughout the area as the magician/cellist in the trio, PRESTO! (click here for the Presto! web site). Presto! presents educational programs for children in Washington D.C. schools through the  National Symphony’s In School Ensemble Program and is also affiliated with Montgomery County Cultural Arts, Creative Arts Program (CAPs) for the Arts Council of Fairfax County, and The Humanities Project for Arlington County Public Schools.

Drew Is a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Society of American Magicians. He loves to perform close up, sleight of hand magic, and tries to never be caught without a deck of cards.  He brings the same dedication and dexterity to his magic that one would expect from a professional cellist.
